The Bhootnii which came out on May 1, 2025, is a Hindi-language horror-comedy directed by Sidhaant Sachdev. While Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh and Palak Tiwari make an impressive cast, the film fails to live up to the action thriller standard
🧙♂️ Plot Overview
At the center of the story is St. Vincent College student Shantanu (Sunny Singh), who, after his breakup, tries to find peace by praying to the famous “Virgin Tree” on Valentine’s Day. However, this thing he did unknowingly releases a spirit named Mohabbat (Mouni Roy), who starts to trouble the students at the college. As the threats from the supernatural grow, the college hires Baba (Sanjay Dutt), a ghostbuster, to deal with the danger.
🎭 Cast Performances
- Sanjay Dutt acts as Baba with sincerity, yet the dialogue doesn’t match the strength of the role.
- Mouni Roy perfectly captures the essence of Mohabbat by giving a fitting performance.

The director’s idea of mixing horror and comedy is disappointing since the story and lines are not powerful enough. Although the film tries to poke fun at common horror themes, the resulting storyline is both confusing and not very funny or scary
🎵 Music and Technical Aspects
The songs in the movie such as "Rang Laga" and "Mahakaal Mahakaali," do not stand out enough. The background music by Amar Mohile is suitable, but it does not add much to the film’s mood. Compositions and edits are not particularly special but are handled well enough.

The Bhootnii tries to shine in horror-comedy but fails because its script is weak and the execution is not impressive. Although the cast is promising, the story holds them back. Those looking for both scares and laughs might not find what they want in this movie.
